In almost all industries, it is important that every action is performed correctly, including under time pressure; in the case of the emergency services, it can even be a matter of life or death. Training in virtual reality is an effective and inexpensive method of rehearsing procedures again and again so that they can be recalled and implemented even under stress.

At Learntec in Karlsruhe, the Fraunhofer IGD team will be showcasing a revolutionary new VR training environment that monitors vital data in real time to evaluate trainee stress levels during the session.

Machine@Hand - VR training environment with coaching function and stress measurement

Machine@Hand is an intuitive 3D/VR authoring tool and collaborative training environment. It allows complex, difficult and dangerous technical activities to be explained and taught by means of a virtual twin in a protected VR environment. The acquisition of vital data in real time allows the instructor to assess the trainee’s stress levels during training and adjust the session accordingly. This is especially useful for time-critical courses of action such as a rescue operation performed by the emergency services. Visitors can immerse themselves in the training world with VR goggles and vital data tracker. They can also see for themselves how effortlessly training scenarios can be created or modified in the editor.
