AvilusPlus
Institute for applied research in Visual Computing
Project description
Long-time technologies for Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality are developed in the AVILUS+ project funded by the BMBF. These technologies are evaluated with industrial partners. Our research topics in the AvilusPlus project are new tracking approaches, methods for registering skills and color realistic rendering.
Tracking
Tracking can be improved by using machine learning approaches. Methods from machine learning are useful for the tracking initialisation as well as for online-training of markerless tracking. Other research topics are the development of hybrid tracking approaches by combining different sensors (”sensor fusion”) and the use of time-of-flight cameras for tracking.
- Tracking initialisation via machine-learning
- Online learning for markerless camera tracking
- Sensor fusion for hybrid tracking approaches
- Computer-vision based tracking with time-of-flight cameras
Registering skills
We register skills to describe tasks and to develop Action Driven Interfaces.
Color realistic rendering
Algorithms for color-realistic visualisation (e.g. for the realistic visualisation of varnishes) are developed and evaluated.
We also do research on the color calibration of display systems and projection systems as well as the acquisition of color information by measuring systems.
